Eley Kishimoto

Eley Kishimoto, is a global British fashion and design company with headquarters in London, UK. Founded in the early 1990’s by Mark Eley and Wakako Kishimoto, the company is primarily known for its print design. The principle commercial activity of the company is womenswear fashion and accessories.

Benoit Pierre Emery

Benoit Pierre Emery (born July 9, 1970) is a French art director and a fashion designer based in Paris, France. A graduate of the Royal College of Art and of the École nationale supérieure des arts décoratifs, Benoit Emery began his career as a freelancer, working as an art director for Canal and Louis Vuitton.

Etro

Etro is an Italian fashion house and manufacturer of fabrics, furnishings and fragrances. It was founded in 1968 by Gimmo Etro. It is still a family business, with menswear headed since 1990 by Kean Etro, while his sister, Veronica, directs womenswear. Gimmo’s eldest son, Jacobo, is in charge of the textile division, and brother Ippoliti handles the company finances from its headquarters in Milan.

F

Faconnable

Façonnable is a French high-end retailer specializing in tailored men’s and women’s clothing. The company started humbly as a small custom tailor shop that Jean Goldberg opened in 1950 on Rue Paradis in Nice, France. By 1958 the small tailor shop was making custom tuxedos for Hollywood stars that were in the Cote d’Azur for the annual Cannes Film Festival. In 1961 Jean Goldberg’s son, Albert, took over the shop and renamed it Façonnable, a variation of the word “Façonner,” which means “to create.” Under his watch the company expanded and in 1973 opens its first boutiques in Monte Carlo, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Lyon, and Marseilles, however it was not until 1984 that Façonnable opened an outlet in Paris.

Fendi

Fendi is an Italian fashion house best known for its “baguette” handbags. It was launched in 1925 as a fur and leather shop in Rome, but today is a multinational luxury goods brand owned by LVMH. Karl Lagerfeld is the creative director.

Fiorucci

Fiorucci is an Italian fashion label founded by Elio Fiorucci in 1967. The first shop exposed Milan to the styles of Swinging London and American classics such as the T-shirt and jeans. By the late 1970s and early 1980s this would be reversed, and the New York store would become famous for the fashions it introduced to the United States. This is evident in the case of Hanae Mori. When she was 34 years old, Mori met Coco Chanel by accident during a fitting, even though Mori had indeed been studying fashion in her homeland Japan, and holding the position of costume designer since the year 1951, it was her encounter with Coco Chanel that truly inspired her. A few years after that, Mori made her debut on the runway with Neiman Marcus in tow.

A decade after, Mori moved to Paris where she showed off her haute couture collection. It did not take too long for her to open her own Haute Couture Maison in the year 1977. Since then, she has become the only designer from Asia to be part of La Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisian. This is a very significant achievement for any designer because this is the governing body of the fashion industry in the whole of France.

But her transition from Japan all the way to Paris was not easy at all. She was studying at the Tokyo Christian Women’s University with Literature as her major when World War II broke out. When the war and its effects subsided, Mori went back to studying but was still unable to obtain a degree because she got married early. Her husband’s family operated a textile manufacturing business. Being a young bride with lots of time on her hands and exposure to different textiles and fabrics, Mori soon developed an interest in fashion design. In 1951, she launched her costume design venture and designed more than 700 costumes for many Japanese directors. However, it was Coco Chanel who gave her that significant drive to venture into haute couture and things have never been the same for her since.

Her more popular items include the silk mousseline dress that was produced in 1981, and the evening wear that comes with the trademark symbol of the butterfly. She is known to have the uncanny ability of using the fabric’s natural appeal to redefine the shape of the woman wearing the fabric itself.

Mori also expanded into fragrances, with her first scent known as Hanae Mori released in 1995. Follow-ups to this scent include Hanae Mori Homme and Hanae Mori Haute Couture. We can expect to see many more new designs and fragrances from this remarkable designer.

<img src="http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u283/WalkerSands/YanaSpringCollectionWall.jpg" border="0" alt="Yana German - Fashion Designer Pictures, Images and Photos"align="right"/>Today’s German clothes have taken a severe turn from those of years ago. The clothes German people are wearing nowadays no longer tell us of their status by way of color and style. This is because the highly rated German fashion houses produce a less expensive version of the haute couture designs for the rich and famous, to enable more or less any budget the pleasure of affording such fabulous examples of fashion.

Within the top name German fashion artists of today you will find garments of a classic traditional style as well as a very off the wall variety of clothing. German clothes are proud to take their place at the forefront of today’s fashion world whether designed by a long standing fashion house or by new and young talented designers.

The Clear Classic Style of German Clothes

In day to day life, Germans are inclined to concentrate on the more down-to-earth fashions. As well as practical business clothes they tend to favor informal sportswear, such as Strenesse and Boss and although these two labels have their headquarters in the south of Germany, they have been established for many years on the international markets.

German Fashion Design

Germany’s high fashion features firmly on the international catwalks. Designers such as Jil Sander and Wolfgang Joop have been global players for over twenty years, the latter having recently taken pleasure in remarkable success with his sensational new “Wunderkind Couture” label. The big galas and balls in cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich are regular showcases for the successes of German fashion-makers like Escada, Unrath & Strano, Talbot Runhof and Anna von Griesheim – who are not only popular with the high society of Germany.

There are ample opportunities to experiment with fashion in the larger German cities where a host of artistic fashion designers produce strong competition to the London and Paris fashion houses. The “bread and butter” fashion show has established a valuable position in Berlin, the epicenter of creativeness.

Insiders have been familiar for a long time with the new German fashion avant-garde, consisting of Coration, Eisdieler, Kostas Murkudis, Sabotage and Thatchers from Berlin, as well as Anja Gockel from Mainz, Blutsgeschwister from Stuttgart, and Susanne Bommer from Munich. Young German fashion designers such Markus Lupfer, Dirk Schönberger and Bernhard Willhelm have gone as far as conquering Paris, London and the ever fashion-conscious city of Antwerp.

Nevertheless, the most well-known German couturier outside of Germany is without doubt Karl Lagerfeld, who was born in Hamburg and the current Creative Director of the legendary French haute couture company, Chanel.

Gabriela Rupp is a successful internet marketer and publisher of Best German Gifts Guide She is born in Germany, lives there for more than 4 decades and provides expert advice and reviews of all the major German brands and hidden gems from Germany.

Gianni Versace was born in 1946 in Reggio, Calabria, in Southern Italy. Versace received his love of fashion and first lessons on dress-making from his mother.

Initially Versace trained as an architect, but soon he followed his mother into the fashion business. Versace worked for a number of top Italian fashion houses, but in 1978 with the help of his brother Santo he launched his own label.

Versace was a great fashion pioneer who combined the worlds of high style and pop culture. He was a charismatic and accomplished designer of clothing and theater costumes.

Versace appreciated a range of historic attire which he incorporated into his designs and he was greatly influenced by Andy Warhol and modern abstract art.

Wowzer! Best describes the fashions designed by Gianni Versace. He was notorious for designing garments that would shock and startle our senses. Versace saw his designing as an art form. He initiated clothing that was visually excessive and provocative- fashions that confronted accepted codes of taste, beauty and sexuality.

Fashion became entertainment, to be watched and admired – not simply worn. For Versace nothing was too extravagant too crazy or too risque. Yet no matter how extravagant or provocative Versace’s clothes were always strikingly well designed garments designed to flatter the body.

Versace was the designer of choice for many of the rich and famous: pop stars such as Elton John, and Madonna; film stars such as Will Smith, and Elizabeth Hurley and even royalty – Princess Diana.

The wealthy were drawn to his clothes like magnets, and that enhanced his reputation. However, Vercasse did not design simply for the wealthy his clothes were very much available to the average person.

In 1985 he launched the Istante label in 1985; and after years as Gianni’s muse, his sister Donatella became his co-designer and launched the Versace diffusion range, Versus, in 1989.

These labels featured clothes within the budgets of many consumers; not only were they priced lower than the custom-made clothes, but they were also aimed at younger markets.
In 1988 Versace received the Cutty Sark Award as “the most innovative and creative designer in the world”; and in 1993 the Council of Fashion Designers of America awarded him the American fashion Oscar.

On July 15, 1997 Versace was shot to death outside his South Beach home in Miami, Florida by a crazed gunman name Andrew Cunanan. Since his untimely death in 1997 the Versace fashion house continues to grow under the creative leadership of his sister Donatella and the business acumen of his brother Santo. Donatella’s daughter Allegra inherited 50% of the company last summer when she turned 18. However, Donatella is still very much in charge.

The days of the wet-look, shocking pink PVC and as much flash and flesh as a catwalk can take are long gone. The new Versace is growing up. “I’m not blind,” says Donatella. “I know that most women don’t look like models.

We had to start addressing other parts of a woman’s life. The fashion business is a very different place from when Gianni started the label.” Donatella’s mind is very much on the continued success of Versace.

With Donatella at the helm, and Santo and Allegra at her side, they continue to grow and develop the Versace Product Lines with fabulous designs unveiled for the 2005 Spring Season. The proof is in the Versace spring fashion line – Have a look for yourself!
